"If I do get sick, that's my own problem," the man says, as he enters. "Just try to stop me, you know you can't."
What a mess.
"As long as you haven't vomitted, I'm not throwing you out. House rules."
He notices the drawing. Memories, huh? He's not Luxord, so he has no idea if they're worth a fever. For all he knows, they might be.
Alright, then. Let's not ask about them. They're not Isa's business. Ancient history, likely long ages before Isa was a concept in furthest dreams.
"Were I you, I'd wait with your drawing exhibitions until you can speak coherently. Seeing as I'm not, I'm just going to check your pulse. Okay? Breathe. And stay calm. Faint if you like, no one from your poker league will hear about that. My lips are sealed."
Isa smirks now. Sorry, he knows it's probably not Rould at fault for being so frenzied, it's not like Rould wanted to be sick, is it? Just some pre Luxord things.
Still, it's just unnerving to Isa.
Can Rould past really eclipse everything else? Probably.
But if so, then... where is the place for current Rould, one Isa was beginning to respect? Is there any place?
Maybe it was too much to ask. Well, that's fine. But still, he is going to try and take care of Rould while Rould's sick. Even if he goes away when finally healthy. Which he might, is that it? If Rould plans to go home.
Well, that's fine, Rould, everyone can make do without...
But Isa would miss him, a little. Is that too much?
"What, now? You wonder what it's like to sleep away heavy years like Ventus. Is that it? I'm not going to apologise for telling you: that's not allowed. Not here, not now. You're teaching me how to play poker. Then you can perhaps teach Lea, Roxas, Xion, and other children."
"And you don't know her that much yet, but Xion would, unlike us fools, be a natural at poker, once she actually gets how one plays the game."
He finds the thermometer. Oh, good, it is actually there.
"I don't want to teach them," Rould counters, his words a bit tired. Definitely loopy. "Just you. Only you."
And he presses against Isa's fingertips. Because that felt good and... Well, it's not like he gets a lot of physical contact from other people. He's starved for touch."
"What? Why me? What's that about me, now? Because you like it here? Trust me, you can stay, even if you don't teach me a thing."
Smiles.
"Honestly,Luxord, you're pathetic. You should get more friends who like the pathetic. Branch out, you'll see. I can recommend seventeen people to you, really."
"I'm sorry, I already have three morons I have my hands full with. I think they chose me. Happens sometimes. I'm not limitless. So, stay put and don't imagine nonsense."
Hm, that's a fever. No wonder Rould is talking weirdly.
"I will go to the apothecary. You - wait for me. No tomfoolery. You'll be right here when I'm back, abd that's an order."
Has he been too harsh? Isa wonders. Not really, he decides.
"All right... let's start at the beginning. You should drink some water, get some bedrest, all that... do you understand? Stay here, for now. Any aches or other discomforts? Just tell me everything and be done with it, so that we know if it's serious."
Yes. He wished it so deeply. Rould reached a hand out to his housemate, as if to ask for Isa to hold his. It's a silly comfort to desire, but one he asked for nonetheless.
"Don't be as needy as Lea when he accidentally took a frisbee to the head."
"That was years ago. In another life."
Isa crouches down and clasps Rould's hand firmly.
"I meant to say, don't be a baby. Surely you've been ill before. It'll pass, and you'll forget that you've made a fool of yourself in front of me just now, Luxord."
Well now he doesn't even want the company. Rould shoots the other man a dirty look before rolling onto his side and thus away from Isa. Clearly a dismissal from the sick man.
Isa's family would've been ashamed of his lousy bedside manner right now if they were here to see this.
Meanwhile, Isa wonders whether he should give Rould some aspirin whenever the man wakes up.
It's true Luxord's probably never been sick. At least, Saïx's never seen him sick. So it must've been years.
Isa wonders how that must feel. After years... probably really vulnerable. Helpless.
Isa considers that maybe he should be gentler. The apparent dismissal doesn't bother him at all. Nothing would, from any friend who'd at a moment be feverish. That gives a lot of leeway, as Isa would then consider most of things said just fever talking, which, well, Rould might not be aware of.
"Sleep well."
And he plans on going to the apothecary once the other's actually asleep.
Well, there is a kindness if the man is going off to get help. As it is, Rould soon falls asleep, once more drowning in his feverish dreams. Dreams of being trapped alone in the darkness. Fun.

First, Isa touches Rould's forehead.

So. How about that body temperature.

And testing his temperature will find it being clear proof of a fever.

Not like he's keeping him here, so what's that even supposed to mean?
